Postdoctoral researcher

We have an open post doctoral research position for studying 'Non-equilibrium charge dynamics in quantum Hall edge channels' in the group of Prof. Toshimasa Fujisawa at Tokyo Institute of Technology (TokyoTech).

The objective of the research project is studying non-eqiulibrium electron dynamics in integer and fractional quantum Hall edge channels in high-mobility AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures, which are well known as topological electronic systems. We are studying electron dynamics in the system (artificial Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid) and developing various experimental techniques as well as topological nanostructure devices.

The postdoc is supposed to take part in one, or several, of research subjects, such as time-resolved or frequency-resolved charge (plasmon) dynamics in the range from nanoseconds (GHz) towards picoseconds (THz) (extension of our previous work [1]), quantum-dot spectroscopy to reveal spatial evolution of non-equilibrium states (extension of our previous work [2]), cross-corrrelation current noise measurement to identify fractional charges [extension of our previous work [3]), fractional charge transport in quantum antidots (planning), and related topics.

This research project will be conducted in Core Research Group C01 'Transport characteristics in nanostructured topological materials' (Group leader: Prof. T. Fujisawa, TokyoTech), which belongs to Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas 'Topological Material Science' (Project leader: Prof. N. Kawakami, Kyoto), MEXT, Japan.

One-year contract for each fiscal year can be extended till March 2020 (depending on the research situation).
Young researches (within approx. 5 years after receiving PhD degree) who have experienced in quantum Hall effects, mesoscopic electron transport, or related fields are encouraged to apply this position.
